TELLURIDE HIGH SCHOOL PLANTING 2024

This project has brought together 15 National Honors Society students in a hands-on effort to enhance their campus environment. In September 2024, students planted 35 spruce, ponderosa, and aspen saplings in front of the school, guided by the school’s maintenance staff. With support from the Telluride Foundation, San Miguel County, and CAASE, the project aimed to create lasting environmental benefits while improving the landscape for future students.

Beyond the immediate impact, the planting was rooted in legacy and long-term stewardship. The trees were carefully placed in irrigated zones to support their growth, with the hope that they will one day stand tall as a reminder of the students’ efforts. For those involved, the project was not only about planting trees, but about leaving something meaningful behind—something they can return to and see thriving for years to come.
