CAMBODIA MANGROVE PLANTING 2025
The SUP Asia Mangrove Planting project took place in the Trapeang Sangkae Fishing Community in Kampot, Cambodia, bringing together 50 volunteers to support coastal ecosystem restoration. A total of 2,000 mangrove trees were planted as part of a collaborative effort to strengthen the local environment and protect vital marine habitats.
Beyond the planting effort, the project created meaningful opportunities for education and community engagement. Participants learned about the importance of mangroves in supporting marine biodiversity, protecting shorelines, and sustaining local livelihoods. Through hands-on involvement, volunteers gained a deeper understanding of the fragile coastal ecosystem and the role these forests play in maintaining ecological balance.
The impact of the project extends into the future by reinforcing existing mangrove forests and supporting eco-tourism initiatives in the region. By helping preserve these natural resources, the planting contributes to job creation and long-term sustainability for the local community, while fostering a strong sense of environmental stewardship among participants.
