BRAZIL ECOLOGICAL LANDSCAPE AND ENVIRONEMENTAL EDUCATION 2025

The Brazil Ecological Landscape and Environmental Education project, developed in partnership with Escola Comunitária Maramar (Maramar Community School), focused on integrating environmental education with hands-on ecological restoration. The initiative aimed to build a sustainable curriculum rooted in Waldorf pedagogy while transforming the school grounds through permaculture-based landscaping. In collaboration with Mayrahu Farm, which provided fruit seedlings and on-site support, a total of 125 trees and plants were introduced to create a living learning environment for students.

Over the course of the project, 82 students, 18 staff members, and community participants worked together to develop gardens and agroforestry areas that support both education and food production. The process included ongoing learning in areas such as soil health, plant care, and natural pest management, resulting in stronger plant survival and improved growing conditions. Plans are also in place to support long-term maintenance by employing a local individual, ensuring the continued growth and care of the landscape.

The impact of the project is already visible. Areas that once lacked vegetation are now thriving with gardens, blooming flowers, and early harvests of bananas, pineapples, and cassava. For the students, this transformation goes beyond the physical environment. It provides a direct connection to nature and an opportunity to learn ecological principles through daily experience, fostering a deeper understanding of sustainability that will stay with them into the future.
